MONICA CROESE

MOMO LUNA S!GNALS

S!gnals is a platform for (group) exhibitions. Monica Croese is the driving force behind this platform. She creates striking exhibitions that spark conversation, provoke thought, move, stimulate, and challenge. She invites artists, performers, dancers, and musicians to participate.
For WEIB! Monica creates exhibitions that deal with the fate of humans from a female perspective. By the fate of humans, WEIB! understands, in the broadest sense, human existence based on its nature and driven by the subconscious. The fate of humans is a common theme in all areas of visual art. In 1933, André Malraux wrote the book La condition humaine; The Human Shortcoming. The title has taken on a life of its own. In the novel, la condition humaine means that humans do not accept their fate and want to be God. Malraux summarizes it as follows: China has opium as an antidote, Islam has hashish, and the West has the woman.

March 2017 was the first exhibition of Weib! at VM23 in Arnhem. An exhibition featuring only female artists who reflected their vision of women. Monica had to fight for the title of this exhibition; Weib! Without a prefix, with an exclamation mark. In the end, this title turned out to be a bullseye, powerful and strong. Writer Stella Bergsma gave the opening speech, and the music was provided by Wove. The well-attended exhibition left people wanting more, and possible themes for new exhibitions floated through Monica's mind, some of which have already been realized. What proves to be powerful and strong should be used. And there are already new ideas for an exhibition at the end of 2026 - beginning of 2027. Blood will tell.....
